Hi! We’re Renee & Ola – The Local Cupcake Lady and Donut Queen. Martinique Desserterie is our cozy bakery just down the road from Martinique Beach. Settled in the heart of Musquodoboit Harbour, the café itself is an expression of our love for this community.

We are proudly serving locally roasted coffee by Top Sail Coffee – customers have told us that it’s some of the best coffee they’ve ever had! Our top secret custom blends are available in Medium or Dark Roast. Our giftshop offers specially curated products made by members of our community.

DONUT QUEEN

Ola

Ola’s love for donuts began with a pregnancy craving back in 2017. It wasn’t until the pandemic began that she began experimenting with donut recipes herself. After selling her donuts at the Musquodoboit Harbour Farmer’s market for several months, she teamed up with Renée and they started Martinique Desserterie together.

Renée The Cupcake Lady (a nickname lovingly dubbed from the local mechanic shop)

Moved to Nova Scotia in 2020. Renée (from Vancouver BC), starting baking bread, cookies, and cupcakes as a way to get to know her new neighbours. The hobby became a home business, which lead to the local Farmer’s Market where she met Ola and the rest is history!

Leah

Leah is a recent graduate from the pastry arts program at NSCC. She completed her program placement with us and we immediately hired her once the program finished. Her hard work, reliability and love of baking makes her the perfect addition to our team and we are so excited to see this young baker flourish.
